Taking another stepping stone in education

 

Recently it was stated that I did not know my own learning capabilities. Why had I not started with a Community Development course? The answer was that I had not found a pathway to achieve what was to be done. Now Monash Gippsland has a pathway of learning leading to achieving the Master in Regional and Community Development which will lead onto a PhD possibility.

 

 
12 RULES FOR GETTING THE BEST OUT OF PEOPLE

  1. Expect the best out of the people you lead.

  2. Make a through study out of other peoples needs.

  3. Establish high standards for excellence.

  4. Create an environment where failure is not fatal.

  5. If they are going anywhere near where you want to go, climb on other people's bandwagons.

  6. Employ models  to encourage success.

  7. Recognize and applaud achievement.

  8. Employ a mixture of positive and negative reinforcement.

  9. Appeal sparingly to the competitive urge.

  10. place a premium on collaboration.

  11. Build into the group an allowance for storms.

  12. Take steps to keep your own motivation high.

    I have found that Alan Loy McGinnis (Bringing out the best in People, 1985, Lutheran Publishing House,Australia.) is quite correct with theses twelve steps are truth factors. Like a blood glucose machine there is just no way over, through under or around the truth of these twelve rules when bringing out the best in people.

 
Self-enhancement

Self enhancement comes in many learning progressions generally lasting all our productive lives.

 

Knowing what to expect in given situations helps people to understand their own place within what is happening.  Bringing an openess to change the tranverses both self enhancement and self transcendence.

 

Sudeen changes or variations to the expected norm jolts peoples conservative thought patterns.  Causing disturbance within their lives that ripple through out communities.
